I did it.  After all of the waiting and wishing and desiring, I got The Lens.  It's a Canon L series, 24-70mm 2.8, one of the best they make.  I'm still in some disbelief that I just spent that much money but given its quality, I'll be using it for at least the next 30 years. Maybe this will give my photo-motivation a shot in the arm.

It's true: I am in fact one year farther from birth, one year closer to death, and two years from certain death (30). Huzzah!

I had my tonsils taken out a week ago.  It's been the most horrifically painful experience of my life.  I'm still taking hardcore painkillers and I probably will be for another 3-4 days.  It's a walk in the park for kids compared to the misery that adults go through.  I haven't eaten much of anything for a week and I can't really talk either.  On the upside, I'll hopefully be able to sleep now (tonsils were causing sleep apnea I think) and I shouldn't get the many bouts of strep that plagued my existence. I'm going through every roll of film I have and picking out the best shots and scanning them in one big run.  Once that is done, and it's
